It started because someone was missing the software he actually needed
SOTHURA SAFE was not born in an innovation lab, and not on a slide. It was born at a desk where advisory records were still being typed up late in the evening.
The German version is binding. This translation is provided for information only.- The beginning
An adviser held back by his own tools
Silvio Siegenthaler was among the top advisers in the Swiss insurance industry, in both private and corporate business. He knew the job. And still, time nobody pays for was lost every day: typing up records, comparing coverage by hand, hunting through a PDF for the one clause that decides the case.
At some point the reason became obvious. The systems he worked with had been built by people who had never done this job. They knew databases. They did not know advisory work. Every piece of software felt like a form somebody else had designed.
- The idea
A tool for exactly one broker
When Silvio was planning the move into self-employment, he built what he had been missing. Not as a product, not for a market. For the one broker whose day he knew inside out: himself.
That is still what makes the difference. Every function in SOTHURA SAFE comes from a situation that actually happened — not from a requirements catalogue.
- The confirmation
The first commitment came from outside
The personal tool became an offering. Union Swiss Brokers Holding AG was the first to adopt it — an association of independent Swiss brokers, not a corporate pilot project, but professionals with the same working day.
From that point it was no longer a personal need, but a solution useful beyond its inventor’s own practice.
Union Swiss Brokers Holding AG, Burgdorf, founded in 2011
- The second mind
For the next step, domain knowledge was not enough
An idea that prepares liability decisions is not built on the side. Silvio was not looking for a freelancer for a few weeks, but for a company able to carry it — and he found Michel Di Vito and Olai Interactive.
Michel has been building web applications for Swiss companies for over twenty years and developing applications with language models for over six. Not since the latest hype, but since the tools for it existed. The broker with an idea and the developer who could carry it became two founders.
Behind day-to-day operations there is therefore no private individual, but a Swiss agency with its own team: Olai Interactive is responsible for hosting, maintenance and security of the platform. Both founders hold shares in that company — operations are not outsourced, and availability rests on a team rather than on a single person.
- Today
The tool became a platform
What began as self-help is today a system of 32 modules with its own analysis engine, operated in Switzerland. Developed and owned by the same two founders who thought it up, with a team in-house.

An industry that deserves better
The Swiss intermediary sector works with tools that are not equal to its own standards. We want to change that — not with yet another tool alongside five others, but with a system that carries the entire advisory day.
We are a young team and we move fast. But we do not build anything that merely looks fast: what we promise has to hold in five years — for the data, for traceability, for being reachable.
- From practice, for practice — every function comes from a real customer situation
- Not an IT experiment, but a tool for people who make their living with it
- Swiss Made: database and audit logs in a certified data centre in Zurich
- Grow fast, but sustainably — no promise we would have to take back later
What we guarantee
Everything that is stored stays encrypted in Switzerland.
- Database and primary storage in a certified Swiss data centre in Zurich
- Audit logs in Switzerland with 10 years of retention
- Storage 100 % in Switzerland; the AI analysis runs in Zurich and moves to an EU location only when Zurich is at capacity — processing therefore exclusively in Switzerland and the EU, client, contract and document data is not transferred to the US or other third countries
- Field-level encryption for particularly sensitive details: AHV numbers, dates of birth, IBAN, policy numbers, claim notifications
- Key sovereignty lies with a Swiss company; the database can be made cryptographically unreadable at any time
- No training on customer data, contractually excluded. No storage at the model provider and no human review
What we adhere to
Compliance is built in, not bolted on afterwards.
- Aligned with the revised FADP, the GDPR and Art. 45 ISA as well as FINMA Circular 2018/3 (outsourcing) and the EU AI Act
- Operated on data centres certified to ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II. The data centres are certified, not SOTHURA SAFE GmbH
- The SOTHURA SAFE platform is a software-as-a-service tool for registered insurance intermediaries. The provider does not itself carry out any supervised insurance intermediation within the meaning of Art. 40 et seq. ISA
- Supervision of users remains with FINMA and with the supervisory and training bodies applicable to them
